A great way to get away from the hustle and bustle of every day life is a cruise to the Bahamas. Not only will you savor the beauty of the islands you will enjoy the culture of the islanders. No matter who joins your party everyone will have a great time on a cruise to the Bahamas.

A cruise to the Bahamas will most likely depart from Florida ports such as Miami, Port Canaveral and Fort Lauderdale. Since some islands are so close, many cruise packages will have you there within a matter of hours. Located in the Atlantic, the Commonwealth of the Bahamas is a nation found just southeast of Florida and just north of Cuba and the Caribbean. This archipelago (or string of islands) is comprised of nearly 700 islands and cays. Even cheap cruises to the Bahamas will allow you to visit at least one island during a weekend getaway.

What makes the culture of the Bahamas' islanders so special? It's the amazing blend of African and European influences. Steel drums are only a small part of the picture. If your cruise happens to be in port during one of the many festivals you'll get to experience the fantastic marching bands that are so important to island life.

There are beautiful golf courses on some islands and you can even find places to can swim with dolphins.

Since Nassau is so close to the US it is usually one of the first stops. Its British Colonial heritage gives it a familiar feel in an exotic setting. Its European feel comes from the fact that everyone drives on the left side of the road and British style of the police uniforms. But those amazing beaches and the luxurious resorts leave no doubt that you are firmly in the tropics.

You'll be glad you did once you find enough in your budget spend on shopping and fun activities at the various ports on your Bahamas cruise.
